The Kent Ayyappa Temple is blessed to announce the observance of the sacred Karkidaka Vavu Bali Tharpanam 2025, to be conducted on the spiritually vibrant and serene banks of the River Medway in historic Rochester, Kent.

Date: Thursday, 24th July 2025 (8th Karkidakam 1200)
Time: 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Venue: River Medway, Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom
Karkidaka Vavu, a deeply significant day in the Hindu lunar calendar, is dedicated to the remembrance and veneration of one’s departed ancestors. In accordance with the timeless Sanatana Dharma traditions, this solemn ritual—performed with Vedic sanctity—is believed to invoke divine grace and ancestral blessings, offering peace to departed souls and spiritual upliftment to their descendants.

The sacred rites will be led by Chief Priest Sri Abhijith, under the auspices of the Kent Ayyappa Temple, with full adherence to the scriptural mandates of Vedic ritualism. The ceremony includes Bali Tharpanam, followed by optional offerings such as Thilahavanam and Pithru Pooja, performed under the guidance of Sri Vishnuravi Thirumeni of Vadakkevelliyillam.

Later the same day, special temple poojas will be held at the Kent Ayyappa Temple premises, guided by Thazhoor Mana Sri Harinarayanan Thirumeni.
Devotees will have the opportunity to undertake temple darshan, offer personal vows and offerings, and seek the divine blessings of Lord Ayyappa.

This annual observance in the UK stands as a spiritual bridge between tradition and diaspora, invoking the divine connection between the living and the departed. The temple continues to be a beacon of devotion, culture, and dharma for the wider Indian community.
